#0001 - ONEPLUS 6 - I Invite You to Join the World of Andriod
Hey Mom,
This post is an attempt to share with you what Android (O/S - Operating System - the Software one interacts with on a phone - Opposite of IOS which is Apple's O/S) on the new Oneplus 6 can offer. So bare with me and let's get started.
First, let's focus on the hardware. Yes, a lot of this information will just be numbers and symbols thrown at you, but I do believe in the following videos the hosts do a pretty good job disecting the information for normies. This first video is from the live event for the launch of the Oneplus 6. The entire video is over 2 hours long, but I have set it to start playing at the 1 hour mark, which is when the good stuff starts. The video then last for about 45 mins where two new products are announced. The remainder of the video is just behind the scenes at the event and can be disregarded.
In my opinion, this phone offers the best hardware to compliment what Android brings to the smartphone space. As with anything tech related there will be a learning curve, but after using the Oneplus 3, I feel confident saying Oneplus is one of the most intuitive phones to use. The price also makes it hard to argue for a phone from the likes of Samsung or Google, which start at $750 and $850 respectively.
Key Feautures I think you will benefit from:
1. Face Unlock - After initial set up all you need to do is look at the screen and the phone will unlock. Of course there is also a finger print reader on the back of the phone, which can be used for unlocking as well.
2. Dual camera set up - This essentially allows for quicker in the moment pictures. Better low light performance. And compensation for "camera shake." ( phone moving slightly will taking a video or picture, which results in blurry photos. This OIS and EIS (Optical image stabilization - Electronic Image Stabilization) ensures that the photos you take will be memorable for the right reasons.
3. Storage!!! - Even the entry level model has 3 times the amount of storage as your current phone. Plus if you ever needed more Google storage is incredibly cheap. In fact its a great idea to back up your photos and videos to Google Cloud for safe keeping regardless of storage needs. No more missed pictures of Georgia.
4. Charging time - "A days power in half an hour." This translates into 60% charge from 0% in just 30 mins. 60% battery life is estimated to last 8 hours of use or 24 hours of Standby. A bit of a stretch, but if you need to recharge again, it's only 30 mins to get it up and running.
5. The glass phone design - This had me hesitant at first, but as you will see in the next videos I will be sharing, I'm no longer concerned. The glass design offers optimal reception. All the wireless and cellular signals can freely escape and be better received through glass than any other material. This of course is only as good as how far or close you are from a cell tower, but you can rest assured it will be the best achievable.
Here is a short video from LinusTechTips in which there is a better view of the phone. It's not a full review of the unit as that will come later, but it presents a better idea of the physical size of the device.
The last video I would like to share is a behind the scenes of the Oneplus assembly factory and quality control. I am sure other manufactures such as Samsung subject their devices to similar practices, but I found it reassuring that a smartphone company with far less capital, strives for the absolute best.
